Making Communities Safe for Women and Children.

Many neighborhoods in Haiti are still lacking basic infrastructure and pose risks to women and children: dark streets, potholes, missing walkways and fences.  The government is slow or unable to fix that.

Woman4Safety are women’s community action groups which identify places of potential danger and create solutions for public spaces to be safe for women and children. Working together they develop small projects that make life easier and safer such as:

  • Mounting solar streetlamps
  • Fixing potholes and broken sidewalks
  • Building fences near rivers and ravines
  • Installing public water pumps in safe places
  • Organizing garbage pick-up and recycling.
  • Clearing dormant waters to prevent diseases caused by mosquitoes.

Help women who take initiatives to help themselves and improve their quality of life.
